1. What is LoriK Creations and LK Home & Gifts?
LoriK Creations started in 2018 with soy candles and is still the name of the soy candle line. LK Home & Gifts is the brick & mortar that opened in September of 2023 in West Boylston. LoriK Creations candles are exclusively sold there.
2. Why do you use soy wax?
All of candles are made out of soy wax, which is a natural ingredient that comes from a soybean. The wax we purchase helps support our Mid-West farmers. These candles are made with the highest quality products to have the cleanest burn and the best scent.
You may notice at times "frosting" or wet spots from time to time on your candle. They are very common and a normal characteristic of a natural wax like soy. They are often caused by the changes in temperature. They are completely normal and do not affect the candle in any way. It will still be the amazing candle you were expecting. The next time you burn your candle it may be gone.. again nothing to worry about and completely normal.
3. Are your candles soot-free?
The true answer to that question is no. We say that because no candle can be 100% soot-free, but our candles are as soot-free as we can possibly make them. We use clean soy wax, clean cotton wicks and high end fragrance oils to make them as clean as possible. The best guarantee to keep them soot-free is to TRIM YOUR WICK in between burnings. If you notice black soot on the inside of the jar, check and see what you are using to light your candle. Many times it is the lighter or matches causing that issue.
4. What is the best way to burn my new LoriK Creations soy candle?
- Please make sure your 1st burn of the candle is a minimum of 2 hours. This will help the candle burn evenly and last longer.
- Burn each time for a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4 hours. This allows the candle to burn evenly and will last longer.
- You must trim the wick before each burn. This will help keep the burn as clean as possible.
5. Do we need to use the lid?
Using the lid on a candle after use helps to retain some of that important fragrance oil. When you light a candle the heat from the flame starts to break down the fragrance oil and release it into the air. If you put the lid back on after each use, this will help to slow down that process and make your candle last longer Candles do not expire but they can lose scent over time if you do not use the lid.
6. What type of fragrance do you use?
When we were in the beginning stages of candle making we tested fragrances from many different companies. The ones we use we think are the best quality not only for the fragrance but for the environment. Most of the oils, if not all the oils we use are manufactured phthalate free. We have found the right combination to make sure you smell our candles from the 1st light to the last light.
7. Do you offer a recycling program?
We do not offer a recycling program yet but maybe in the future. We do have people who have reached out to let us know they reuse them around the house for food, crafts etc. We also have a small customer base that is kind enough to drop off the lids at the West Bolyston porch pick up location that we reuse again. Kind of funny to arrive and see lids on the doorstep.
8. Where can our candles be purchased?
Our candles can be found in our main retail location:
- As of September 2023: Our NEW store LK Home & Gifts. We are located at 201 W. Boylston St. West Boylston, MA 01583. Our candles are now exclusively sold here.
- We do not ship on a regular basis yet but if you are interested in candles shipped please reach out to us and we will make it happen.
